Lufthansa said it had entered into a “comprehensive codeshare agreement” between Vistara. The agreement will also allow United Airlines to add its “AU” design code on Vistara-operated flights, which would connect the Chicago-based airline`s customers to more than 20 domestic destinations, including cities such as Hyderabad, Ahmedabad and Kolkata. Codeshare flights also offer connections to and from the daily flights United Airlines offers to Delhi and Mumbai directly from New York. British Airways is an important codeshare partner for Vistara in India. As part of the agreement, British Airways` “BA” design code is added to Vistara`s flights, which cover a large number of Indian cities, including British Airways virtual destinations, namely Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Goa, Kolkata, Kochi and Pune. “Under the new agreement, customers benefit from 126 weekly flights connecting ten major Indian cities to Lufthansa via Delhi/Lufthansa and Vistara in the final phase to allow customers to collect miles with both airlines,” the German airline said in a statement.
